Turkey: back-up jury votes results make interesting reading

UPDATE: OFFICIAL RESULTS ARE ANNOUNCED, CLICK HERE FOR MORE.

Several web-sites including Oikotimes have broadcast today some rumours about Turkish back-up jury votes. The rumours have not yet been confirmed by TRT. As the rumours have it, the back-up jury votes from Turkey were:

SEMIFINAL 2
12 Ukraine
10 Sweden

08 Switzerland

07 Iceland

06 Cyprus

05 Portugal
04 Denmark
03 Lithuania
02 Hungary
01 Croatia

EUROVISION FINAL

12 Ukraine

10 Sweden

08 United Kingdom

07 Norway

06 Serbia

05 Iceland
04 Greece
03 Israel
02 Poland
01 Portugal

If these results are true, they do make some interesting reading. The official televoting results given that night from Turkey were (video below aswell of the votes been called out):

TELEVOTING EUROVISION FINAL RESULTS

12 Azerbaijan

10 Armenia

08 Ukraine
07 Greece
06 Bosnia & Herzegovina
05 Russia
04 Georgia
03 Spain
02 Norway

01 Albania

Notice how the back up jury did not give any points to Azerbaijan (who the televoting result gave 12 points to) or Russia (who won the contest). Also Sweden was favoured by the jury in the semi final and final giving 10 in both cases, yet the televoting results revealed no points to Sweden.

Another major oberservation is the United Kingdom, who came joint last this year with 14 points, received 8 points from the Turkish backup jury. The Televoting result gave no points to the United Kingdom.

If all these results are true, it would be further evidence of the continuing problem of the voting situation in the contest. Are the public thinking of the neighbours more than the song, it sure looks like it.

Comments

  1. Sweden and Charlotte Perrelli would have won if their where jury voting

  2. i do seriously believe that with the jury vote back in, countries such as united kingdom, sweden, iceland and cyprus would have far more sucess than they have done in some of the more recent contests

  3. The UK entry was the best since Katrina and the waves... this is definite proof that televoting can pick the wrong winner and denp the better sons to the bottom
