52nd Eurovision hosts announced

The hosts of Eurovision Song Contest 2007 have just been announced.

They are Jaana Pelkonen and Mikko Leppilampi.
Jaana is known to Eurovision fans as she is the female host of Finnish National Finals from 2005 until the present day, whilst Mikko is popular Finnish actor and singer.

They will be hosting both the semi final on May 10th and the final on May 12th, as well as the dress rehearsals, a total of eight events expected to be watched by more than 300 million viewers all over the world.

You will remember at the beginning of July, we reported of rumours of the results of the Turkish back up jury, that showed up some interesting reading. As we all know, each country must have a back-up jury whose votes are used in the event of problems with televoting. However, this year the votes of each jury were used to determine one qualifier from each of the semifinals. Kosovo: RTK wants to enter Eurovision as soon as possible

Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves . The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo.
