Ireland: Will participate in 2009

RTÉ, the Irish Television broadcaster has confirmed to esctoday.com, that Ireland will participate at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 to be staged in Moscow, although they are not ready to announce any details about the way in which their entry will be selected yet.

RTE have remained very quiet since Dustin the Turkey's representation at Eurovision 2008 in Belgrade last May, but there was no doubt Ireland would return due to the return of the jury to the Eurovision voting.

Ireland have won the contest 7 times, their most recent win was in 1996.

As we all know, each country must have a back-up jury whose votes are used in the event of problems with televoting. Kosovo: RTK wants to enter Eurovision as soon as possible

Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves . The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo.
