Ireland: Johnny Logan comments on Eurovision

Three times winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in 1980, 1987 and writer in 1992, Johnny Logan appeared on early morning television on commercial broadcaster TV3 Ireland's flagship morning show Ireland:AM.

Johnny speaks of his reasons why he doesn't watch the Eurovision Song Contest anymore, why Ireland hasn't had much success in the past ten years, how the Eurovision Song Contest has changed and his new album.

You will remember at the beginning of July, we reported of rumours of the results of the Turkish back up jury, that showed up some interesting reading. As we all know, each country must have a back-up jury whose votes are used in the event of problems with televoting. However, this year the votes of each jury were used to determine one qualifier from each of the semifinals. Kosovo: RTK wants to enter Eurovision as soon as possible

Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves . The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo.
