Malta 2008

8 songs competed in the Maltese Final at the Malta Fairs & Convention Centre on 26th January 2008. The winner was chosen by televoting (80%) and a jury (20%).

The winning song is "Vodka" by Morena.


Malta have had disappointing results recently. The country finished last in 2006 and failing to make it out of the semi final in the 2007 contest.

I really love Malta and always have a soft spot for them. They always have good songs. I really hope they do well.

Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves . The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo. OFFICIAL: The 2008 results of the Turkish back up jury

You will remember at the beginning of July, we reported of rumours of the results of the Turkish back up jury, that showed up some interesting reading. As we all know, each country must have a back-up jury whose votes are used in the event of problems with televoting. However, this year the votes of each jury were used to determine one qualifier from each of the semifinals. Yakur Mutla was a member of the Turkish jury, and has passed on a copy of the votes to oikotimes.com that were given all each of the jurors after the event.
