France: Johnny Logan to write 2010 entry?

It seems Johnny Logan wants to keep far away from Ireland as possible as it has been reported that France will be represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo with a song written by Mr Eurovision Johnny Logan, according to the German magazine Bunte. Johnny Logan, who won the Eurovision Song Contest three times in 1980, 1987 and as a writer in 1992, would have been asked by the French public broadcaster to write the French entry. Johnny Logan told in an interview with the German magazine Bunte that "I was asked if I wanted to write a song and I said yes." The australian born Irish singer won the Eurovision Song Contest twice with What's Another Year and Hold Me Now and as composer of the song Why Me? performed by Linda Martin. -

France: Welcome Back!

One of Eurovision 24's favourite countries, France have won the contest 5 times, their last win in 1977, quite a long time. Despite appearing in the Contest for over 50 years, France has never taken last place, although they ended up placing second to last six times. Now 32 years later after their last win in 1977, France 3 have appointed Patricia Kaas as the 2009 representative with this marvellous song entry S'il Fallait Le Faire . It goes to show that France is really taken seriously the contest this year. The French song will go some changes. The first change is to narrow the duration of the song as it exceeds the EBU rule of the three minutes. Sources close to the French broadcaster told that the song will also be revamped and will be presented in a Eurovision version in March. Could this be France's 6th win on the cards? -

Moscow 2009: The 'Big Four' remains

Image
More news from meetings in Moscow today have confirmed that France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom will not lose their 'Big Four' privilege of an automatic place in the Eurovision Song Contest final. Are we surprised? no. I get the sudden feeling that if they lost that "privilege" of their place in the final, then I would not be surprised if one or two countries withdrew. We must admit though, they do finance about 40% of the contest. Following another year of poor results for the Eurovision Song Contest 'Big Four', many media speculated that the four countries would surrender their automatic place in the final of the competition. As the four large financial contributors to the competition, their entries have been automatically qualified for the final since the introduction of a semi final in 2004. There will be no change in that status in Moscow. In Belgrade, Spain finished in 16th place and France could only manage 19th position, despite having two of...

France 2008

Having had one of the best national finals of 2007, France's entry once again failed to make the Top 10 at Eurovision. Consequently France 3 reverted to an internal selection for 2008. After several rumours involving high profile singers such as Tina Arena, Alizee and Laam, the French entry was announced on March 7th and Sebastien Tellier will perform "Desire", the first ever Eurovision entry from France, sung totally in English.
