New Eurovision.tv to Launch

After checking the website about a 1,000 times, finally tomorrow, Tuesday 15 January, will see the launching of the new official site of the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest.

One of the new features offered by the website will be the live streaming of national finals. The first one was the Cypriot final, on Saturday 12 January and two more have been confirmed so far: Azerbaijan: National final is on February 2nd at 18.00 CET and Estonia: National final is also on February 2nd at 20.30 CET

You will remember at the beginning of July, we reported of rumours of the results of the Turkish back up jury, that showed up some interesting reading. As we all know, each country must have a back-up jury whose votes are used in the event of problems with televoting. Kosovo: RTK wants to enter Eurovision as soon as possible

Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves . The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo.
