Eurovision Draw 2008: The Countdown

On Monday 28th January 2008, all eyes will be on the host city of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, Belgrade, for the first time, to determine which country takes place in which of the two Semi-Finals. The live show takes place at Belgrade's City Hall, and is being hosted by Serbian broadcaster RTS.

The programme will be streamed live through Eurovision.tv's esctv, so make sure you tune in at 13:00 CET (11.00 GMT)! more information.

You will remember at the beginning of July, we reported of rumours of the results of the Turkish back up jury, that showed up some interesting reading. As we all know, each country must have a back-up jury whose votes are used in the event of problems with televoting. However, this year the votes of each jury were used to determine one qualifier from each of the semifinals. Kosovo: RTK wants to enter Eurovision as soon as possible

Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves . The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo.
