As an Independent nation, Montenegro will be sending its second Eurovision entry to Belgrade having made its debut in Helsinki in 2007 and failing to qualify for the final. This year's Montenegrin selection was completed over two phases. In the first section televoters chose Stefan Filipovic as the singer from a selection of six performers. The second phase saw an internal selection for the song and Stfan will sing "Zauvijek Volim Te" (Forever I Love You) in Belgrade.

You will remember at the beginning of July, we reported of rumours of the results of the Turkish back up jury, that showed up some interesting reading. As we all know, each country must have a back-up jury whose votes are used in the event of problems with televoting. However, this year the votes of each jury were used to determine one qualifier from each of the semifinals. Kosovo: RTK wants to enter Eurovision as soon as possible

Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves . The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo.
