ALBANIA 2009

Albania was the first country to hold its national final for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. Kejsi Tola won the 47th edition of the Festivali i kenges. With the song Më mërr në ëndërr (Take me into your dreams), she will be the sixth Albanian entrant in the competition.

20 songs were presented in the national final and a jury picked the winner. The song Më mërr në ëndërr was written by Edmond Zhulali and Agim Doçi, the team behind Anjeza Shahini's 2004 entry The image of you. Reaching 7th place in Istanbul, it remains the country's most successful entry to date.

Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves . The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo. OFFICIAL: The 2008 results of the Turkish back up jury

You will remember at the beginning of July, we reported of rumours of the results of the Turkish back up jury, that showed up some interesting reading. As we all know, each country must have a back-up jury whose votes are used in the event of problems with televoting. However, this year the votes of each jury were used to determine one qualifier from each of the semifinals. Yakur Mutla was a member of the Turkish jury, and has passed on a copy of the votes to oikotimes.com that were given all each of the jurors after the event.
