Armenia: will not participate in Eurovision Dance Contest 2009

President of Armenian Dance Sport Federation Aghasi Mkrtchyan told Panarmenian.net that Armenia will not be participating in the Eurovision Dance Contest 2009.

One of the reasons is Azerbaijan’s refusal to take part in International Dance Sport Championship held last year in Yerevan.

According to Azeri media, General Manager of Azerbaijani Public Broadcasting Company Ismail Omarov declared that "Azerbaijan guarantees the safety of all contestants including Armenians, should they wish to participate.”

Baku in Azerbaijan will host the Eurovision Dance Contest in September 2009.

Kosovo: RTK wants to enter Eurovision as soon as possible

Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves . The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo.
