Germany: Eurovision entry announced in February

For the first time since 1995 the German entry in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest will be selected internally. The deadline for submitting songs has now passed and it has been announced that song and performer will be announced during the first half of February.

Last year, girl group No Angels finished 23rd and hence equal last with Disappear.

As we all know, each country must have a back-up jury whose votes are used in the event of problems with televoting. Kosovo: RTK wants to enter Eurovision as soon as possible

Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves . The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo.
