PARTICIPATING COUNTRIES FOR THE 54TH EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2009

The EBU have announced the provisional list of the 43 participating countries that will compete at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow.

For the first time since 2002, there will be no country making a debut at the Eurovision Song Contest (at least we don't need extra seats in the green room then!).


Slovakia return for the first time since 1998. San Marino withdraws this year, after debuting in 2008 and Georgia will take part despite earlier intentions. The surprising addition to the list is Latvia as they did announce earlier last month their decision not to compete due to financial reasons, the same goes for Lithuania who will also be present in Moscow.

The draw to determine which of the two semi finals the 38 Semi-Finalists will participate in, will take place on the 30th of January in Moscow.


The draws for the running order of the Semi-Finals, the Final and voting order take place in March with a date to be announced.
