Lithuania: LRT confirms participation

Although Lithuania was included in the announcement of the 43 countries competing in at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow, it is only now that LRT have officially confirmed that Lithuania will appear on Olympiyski Indoor Arena's stage.

Yesterday LRT board has held a meeting and it was decided that there aren't any obstacles to participate at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009.

As we all know, each country must have a back-up jury whose votes are used in the event of problems with televoting. Kosovo: RTK wants to enter Eurovision as soon as possible

Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves . The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo.
