In the opening seconds of 2009, Turkey launched their bid for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 to be staged in Moscow, Russia.

Kosovo: RTK wants to enter Eurovision as soon as possible
Kosovarian broadcaster RTK has shown interest in entering the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster will soon apply for active EBU membership and will hope to get it in time to enter the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. As a national selection, they will use a contest which stopped years ago, called Akordet e Kosoves . The question remains whether RTK will be able to get active EBU membership, since countries like Serbia, Russia and Greece can object, as they don't recognise the new Republic of Kosovo. The only thing I am unhappy about is that the use of English, in the Eurovision Song Contest, increases year by year. May I say, as a native English speaker that this unfair. The time has come to break this habit of "language imperialism", in the Eurovision Song Contest, and use a song, sung in Esperanto instead!

ReplyDeletei loved the turkish song last year - this is like back to the usual, you won once with this not sure you will make it twice - this wont win the migrant vote and a good draw will help it make the final there after - it could be top 10 - could be
