FYR Macedonia: EBU & RTS to pay tribute to Tose Proeski in the show

Toše Proeski, the FYR Macedonian super star who represented his country in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and tragically died in a car accident in October 2007, at the age of 26, is still remembered by his fans all over the Balkans. Two months after his death, a petition was announced by his fan club. Some weeks later, 13.600 people had already signed according to Oikotimes.


The Eurovision executives promised that the deseased singer will be mentioned in one of the semifinals, perhaps in the second one, while the fan club hopes and fights for five minutes dedicated to the singer in the final too.


The fan club of the so called "Elvis Presley of the Balcans", according the BBC news, are also urging everyone to write to Oprah Winfrey, aiming at a presentation on her show of the singer's influence in the Balcans and the whole world. The council of the international musical festival "Ohrid fest", which will take place from 21st to 24th August in Ohrid, FYR Macedonia, decided to declare Toše Proeski's song "Igri bez granici"(Games without borders) the hit of the Balcans in 2007. The award is to be received by the author of the song, Miroslav Rus.
