Ireland: Hughes defends his decision to pick Dustin for Eurovision

TOP producer Bill Hughes has stood by his decision to select Dustin the Turkey as one of our Eurosong finalists.

The irreverent character received a roasting at the hands of Europe’s televoters this week after failing to make it through to the finals of the 53rd Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade.

And Mr Hughes, who was chairman of the judging panel that put Dustin through as one of our six finalists with his ditty Irlande Douze Pointe, said he was “gutted” with the result.
